THE POWER OF THE SURVEY......
AAA typically sends out two forms of Sterling surveys, a automated phone call or a mail in survey. And those surveys hold the power of your destroying your service rep's monthly numbers. Your service reps needs all 100% on each call. Anything lower than a "very satisfied" a is considered a failure. If your rep gets more than "two" bad surveys...their month is ruined and any bonuses, raises, promotions and even employment may be in jeopardy. So they are more afraid of you than anyone in the office they work with (including their supervisor). So if a rep denies service, suggestively tell them that if you receive a survey, you are going to remember how you were treated. It's not a threat...it's a fact. And you have every right to do so. Now don't abuse your power of course. Just make sure that you are throwing the fish out there to get service ONLY! Anything else you would be abusing your authority (nothing will happen to your membership but remember all call are monitored). But if you've been waiting for HOURS for service.... make sure to take it out on the survey. If you are waiting more than an hour (and there's not a cloud in the sky)...take it out on the survey. If the rep was rude or unprofessional to you...take it out on the survey. Anything lover than a "very satisfied" will get them every time. And these surveys also are important to the AAA office that is servicing your area because their managers and supervisors get bonuses at the end of the year on how good their office performed so remember....you're the KING!
Here Comes The Good Stuff....
OK. Have you ever had a situation where your child is out late at night and you are at home? Your kid calls you and says " Hey Mom/Dad! My car gave out and I remember you have AAA. Can you call them for me to help me out"? So OF COURSE you are going to help your kid, nephew, niece, grandchild out because it's the last thing you would ever want to happen to them. Being out late at night with no one to help them.
<>
So you call AAA and tell them your situation and guess what....those bastards tell you " Sorry but your membership is NON TRANSFERABLE"! That is BULLSHIT! If the vehicle is registered in your name or if you are paying the bills on that car. AAA has the right to service you. But let's say the vehicle is not registered under your name and you still want to help. Make the call to AAA and DEMAND they send a truck out. Tell them that you will be there (even though you may not). Most drivers will still provide service despite you not being there only because they want to bill AAA for their services. But if the driver gets there and "refuses" service. Have the person you sent service to call you and then call AAA back. You tell them it's an emergency situation and if you deny service that you will be filing a complaint with the "president of AAA" to say you place your child or family member in harms way! And if you have more than 10 years of being a member...you got major leverage. And "yes"! They do respond to every letter and if that supervisor or employee is found guilty of neglect, they could lose their job. Bottom line is people DO NOT LET AAA DENY YOU SERVICE NO MATTER WHAT! It's your membership and you have every right to use your membership how you feel. You pay for it and it's NOT insurance...it's a promotional offer.

)
OK,
So here we are. You have been a member for AAA for years and you need service. It's three in the morning and you are scared shitless. There is no one around within miles and you remembered that you are a AAA member. So you call them and they tell you. We're sorry but we cannot find your membership. That's funny because you sure as Hell was able to find my checking account when you took out my yearly membership?!
These are just a few encounters that the wonderful people at AAA (especially So Cal Auto Club) will do to make your life a living Hell. Now I'm gonna tell you the real deal AND show you ways on how to stick it to them.
How do I know so much. Well let's just say I'm a former employee for more than five years there and have seen it all and seen the dirty deeds this company has done in the past and now does in the future. It's my opinion and of course you can take it with a grain of salt OR say...damnit! He's right! But take my advice and do with it as you will but there is a reason you are reading this blog. And you know why...you've been fucked over by the Auto Club before and you want " resolution".
So lets go over some of those dirty tricks our good people at the Auto Club do to you so let's start with how that Auto Club is able to charge you less than $68 for a new membership and make a profit.
The answer is AUTO INSURANCE! The whole auto emergency membership is just a game to get you to eventually purchase their auto insurance. AAA signs a contract with tow companies to pay them less than $50 per service every time a driver goes out to assist your vehicle. And those calls adds up. And tow company can get up to an extra $1000 a day in AAA calls alone. So you have four calls a year per membership and that means the auto club pays them $200 if you use all your calls. But the Auto Club knows that you may even use your membership for "years" and that's where the profit comes back to them. But they want you to feel safe with their membership and of course they know you need auto insurance. So most likely you will go with AAA and BOOM! They got ya!
With that said. Auto Club insurance is somewhat decent. Just don't call between the hours of 1am to 5am for a claim otherwise you are screwed because the claims department is closed and you will be transferred to a emergency roadside agent who doesn't know jack shit about your policy. They'll only process a claim and it will take almost two days to hear from someone back. So just wait until the morning (after 8am to file that claim).
